More than 500 students from throughout the state took part in the Discover Southern Day Saturday at the University of South Mississippi.

The prospective students participated in a full calendar of events, beginning with campus tours and visits to academic departments receptions by fraternities and sorties; a free ball game between Delta State and USM.

Saturday afternoon events moved to the Reed Green Coliseum where a student style and talent show preceded the evening appearance of the nationally famous singing group, the Cowsills.

The Cowsills played to a crowd described by admissions director Gilbert Langdon and W. E. Kirkpatrick, director of student activities, as being in excesses of 3,000.
