LAKESIDE, Ohio – The Cowsills will be giving a concert Friday in Hoover Auditorium. Freckles, laughter, big brown eyes, combined with a lot of talent make the Cowsills into one of the hottest properties in the entire pop music field.

Bill, Bob, Barry and John Cowsill comprise the nucleus of the group. Mother, Barbara, and younger sister, Susan, lend their voice to the boys’ harmony whenever it is needed. Brothers, Dick and Paul, are the road managers and Mr. Cowsill has the job of coordinating them all into a polished organization.

The Cowsills live in a 22-room mansion on top of a Newport, Rhode Island hill. The grass has grown to a height of 3 feet where Curly, the family dog hunts. There are seven bathrooms and one shower. “Water pressure isn’t so great,” explains Bob. “The best time to take a shower is around 3 a.m. “ The past few years most of the money has gone into “tools of the trade” – instruments, sound systems, amplifiers etc. – So There isn’t much furniture in the house.

The Cowsills were plugging along for years with next to nothing trying to find “the” hit that would lead them to stardom. Through the spirit and determination of Bud, their father, they were introduced to a talent manager who led them to MGM Records. They have been on their way since with such hits as “The Rain, The Park, and Other Things,” “We Can Fly” and “Hair.” Their homey TV commercials has influenced many teenagers in their attitude towards drinking milk and made them a familiar sight to everyone.
