The Cowsills are currently represented on the charts with what’s turning out to be the biggest single of their career, HAIR. This song is on their latest LP which happens to be the FLIP DISKS ALBUM OF THE WEEK The Cowsills are one big happy family who know that to sing together is to stay together. Well, their latest endeavor is a sampling of a live concert in which they are all together. Simply entitled THE COWSILLS IN CONCERT (MGM), it features solos by various members of the group with the rest of them clearly joining in the background. Besides HAIR, the LP includes Monday, Monday, a song that the group does well, even to the point of sounding a little like The Mamas & The Papas, creators of the song. They sound somewhat like the Left Banke in their rendition of Walk Away, Renee. Two Beatles tunes are on the package, Paperback Writer and Act Naturally. They offer a fine version of Reach Out (I’ll Be There) and I live the way Mama Cowsill, Barbara, does The Cruel War. Little Susan sings Hello, Hello and I still say she’s my little doll! Other songs that make up the album are Good Vibrations, The Sunshine Of Your Love, Please Mr. Postman and Good Golly Miss Molly-Devil With a Blue Dress. The Cowsills are one group that people of all ages like. Their sound is refreshing and indeed entertaining. Of all the Cowsill albums out, I think this is the best because of the entertainment factor that it enhances.
