This year, activities for teens and youngsters are a major focus of the event and will include a teen concert featuring national Radio Disney Recording Artists Jillian Wheeler, Brandon Lentz, Band Camp, Jada and others.

First Night Newport is a nonprofit, family-oriented festival celebrating families, music, arts and cultural activities. The celebration is held in 18 locations throughout downtown Newport on New Year's Eve.

Leroy White, the Pied Piper of Newport, will lead the parade from City Hall to the site of the fireworks display at 9 p.m.

First Night Buttons cost $7 before Dec. 31 and are available at local businesses and $8 at the door. Children age 6 and under will be admitted free.

This year the event will feature clowns, jugglers, puppeteers, face painting, storytellers, magicians and all types of musical performances including classical, blues, jazz, folk and Irish music and dancers.
