It was family night on the Summerfest stage Saturday as three groups of relatives entertained an estimated 8,000 customers.
The top billed Cowsill family elicited Saturday's loudest screaming and brightest flashbulb explosion - from hundreds of their teenybopper followers camped at ringside.
But Earl Scruggs' country group and Buddy Guy's Chicago blues band also demonstrated that the family that plays music together stays harmoniously solvent.
Saturday's three hour program flowed along smoothly, thanks largely to Summerfest's effective three stage setup. And guests got samplers of three distinct styles in current pop music.
With six singer-instrumentalists on stage the clean cut Cowsills presented the ultimate in family songfests - a sort of electronic Von Trapp family.
Susan, 11, John, 14, Barry, 15, Paul, 18, and Bob, 21, displayed talent beyond their years in vocal blends with Mother Barbara.
Barry and John scored, too, with respective Mick Jagger and johnny Cash impressions.
