It's deja vu all over again, as an oft-quoted New York Yankee so aptly put it, and the Battle in the Bronx got under way last night with all the hype, hoopla, star power and trash-talking worthy of the epic horsehide showdown.
In New York, celebrity fans like Jack Nicholson, Donald Trump, Jay-Z (sans B), Billy Crystal, ``Sopranos'' stars James Gandolfini, Lorraine Bracco and Steve Schirripa, and the Rev. Al Sharpton made their way to Yankee Stadium for Game One while back in Boston everyone jumped on the Red Sox bandwagon.
``I want it to go seven,'' Yankees lover Jay-Z declared. ``It's the best rivalry in baseball.''

Hair, baby
The Cowsills, denied a chance to serenade the Sox at Fenway Park last weekend because of the Angels sweep, will be on the field Saturday to sing - what else? - their hit tune ``Hair.''
The '60s classic, featured in a video tribute to the Sox stylemeisters, has become the unofficial anthem of Johnny Damon (the Jesus look), Manny Ramirez (dreads), Bronson Arroyo (cornrows) and Pedro Martinez ('fro) and the rest of the hirsute hit squad.
The Newport, R.I., family, who were the inspiration for TV's ``The Partridge Family,'' are huge Sox fans - a gift (curse?) they inherited from their mom, Barbara Cowsill.
Seems Red Sox spin doctor Charles Steinberg came upon Bob Cowsill performing in a bar in La-La a few weeks back and asked the ex-teen idol if he could still do ``The Rain, the Park and Other Things.'' Well, Bob was so impressed that Charles knew the song was NOT called ``I Love The Flower Girl'' that he agreed to get the fam together for the Fenway show!
Other entertainers the Sox are seeking for ALCS duty include a reunited Kingston Trio, who will do the national anthem and the classic ``Charlie on the MTA'' this weekend, Holliston homegal Jo Dee Messina, ``Dirty Dancing Havana Nights'' singer Heather Headley and some local acts.
Which should be music to Sox fans' ears!
