Cowsill ailing, so folk club gig gets postponed
Full Moon bringing in Korth, Kerr instead

When the current Full Moon Folk Club calendar was being cobbled together last spring, bluegrass music fans were going to be treated to one show in each half of the club’s season.

Unforeseen events now see the club producing two shows of pickin’ and grinnin’ back-to-back. John Reischman’s Jaybirds will be headlining this evening while Craig Korth and wife Julie Kerr will step into the spotlight at St. Basil’s Cultural Centre on Nov. 15, rather than Jan. 24 as the club brochure stated.

Blame Billy Cowsill’s recurring back problems for the switch in dates. The veteran roots music entertainer recently went under the surgeon’s knife for the second time in eight months. The operation means the Cowsill and Steve Pineo fronted Co-Dependents can’t work until the new year, so Full Moon director Peter Pirquet flipped dates with Korth and Kerr.

“We’ve got over 400 tickets sold for the Co-Dependents show in two weeks and just need to get the word out that there has been a change,” says Pirquet, who can’t complain about how the rest of the inaugural season in the club’s new home is going.
