It’s long overdue, but Billy Cowsill is finally going to record a solo disc next month.

A vocalist who has few rivals when it comes to nailing harmonies or finding the heart and soul of a classic country or rock ‘n’ roll song when singing lead, Cowsill has been one of the most consistent live acts on our scene for the past 20 years whether he’s been hitched up to bands like Blue Northern or Trainwreck. Cowsill hasn’t been front and center on a recording since The Blue Shadows broke up five years ago and as of late he’s been working in a trio with fellow Calgarians Steve Pineo and Tim Leacock called the Co-Dependents.

Miles Wilkinson, who has worked extensively with Guy Clark and Cindy Church, will be producing. The Cowsill disc is going to be a live affair recorded over four nights at a funky little diner on the outskirts of Cowtown called the Mecca Café.
