His (Mike Stack) 2001 debut disc I Need Wheels (via Festival Distribution) is a find example of how Stack covers a lot of territory while he sticks in the geometry of love songs, road songs and rural imagery. The independent release is buoyed by producer Kit Johnson’s bass, drummer Thom Moon and a whole cast of guests including Jane Hawley, Billy Cowsill, Steve Pineo and Ron Casat.
