Ronnie Hayward pays an overdue visit
March 2, 2001 Edmonton Journal Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
There’s only one thing to say about Ronnie Hayward’s scheduled performances this weekend at the New City Likwid Lounge.
It’s about time.
. . .
Upon relocating to Calgary, Hayward didn’t waste any time putting together a trio with two players of equal experience and reputation.
“That was the group with Craig Korth from Jerusalem Ridge who was playing electric guitar and Billy Cowsill on acoustic guitar plus all the backing and harmony vocals,” says the soft-spoken Hayward from his Calgary home.
“We really couldn’t play together consistently, but did manage to play some good dates, like the Calgary Folk Festival and the Shady Grove Bluegrass Festival in Nanton,” continued the bandleader, who last year put together a new unit that didn’t have as many conflicting interests.
