1984 will go down as the year of the giant question mark in the minds of most local rock concert promoters and club owners.
. . .
But the clubs that had a better than average year were those who chased an upscale clientele with both name acts and atmosphere.
“Our most successful bands are k.d. lang, Billy Cowsill, Jane Siberry, Powder Blues and Downchild,” says Mavis Schellard, of the Sidetrack Café, a club so successful in ’84 that it will be expanding March 1st.
