An intensive publicity campaign heralding tomorrow's opening of the New York State Fair has put the emphasis this year on fun and recreation - and there will be plenty of that for every member of the family, with hundreds of kinds of free entertainment all week and through Labor Day.
But thousands will attend the Fair looking for more than fun on the vast midway, thrills at the horse show, harness races, stock car races, laughs at the three-ring circus, enjoyment listening to the Cowsills, the Young Americans, the Lennon Sisters, the Four Saints and Grad Old Opry stars.
