In Garland, they tell you that it will cost $10,000 to bring the Cowsills to town for a June 14 show at Williams Stadium.
But the money will be ready for the nationally known family singing group.
The Cowsills will be the chief attraction at a "Youth Against Drugs Rally" and their stopover has been underwritten by a group of Big G adults, and a city-wide canvas for the sale of $1 tickets is under way. Every one of Garland's 21,000 homes and all of the city's school rooms are being canvassed and the Youth Action Committee of Garland expects to overflow the 14,000 seats in Williams Stadium with the holds of $1 tickets.
Mayor Jim Toler proclaimed June 14 as Youth Action Day and Gov. Preston Smith wired his endorsement of the rally program that will begin at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to music and son by the Cowsills, there will be talks by "Richard", a former drug addict, and WFAA Newscaster Frank Clarke, former Dallas cowboy football star.
