Recycling Makes Sense - Continental Drifters came together when ex-Dream Syndicate bass player Mark, Walton, former Bangle Vicki Peterson, onetime Cowsill Susan Cowsill, and Peter Holsapple, previously a sideman for REM, joined up with Carlo Nuccio and Ray Ganucheau, two Big Easy natives displaced in Los Angeles. The band eventually relocated to New Orleans, where Nuccio was replaced by erstwhile Terrence Simien Zydeco Band member Russ Broussard, and Ganucheau, who quit after developing an aneurysm in his shoulder, was succeeded by Robert Mache, quondam guitarist with the Steve Wynn Band. Continental Drifters open for the alt. country band Son Volt this evening at Pearl Street. 8:30 $15
