Cowsills
The Singing Cowsill Family

"On My Side," the latest album by the Cowsills, has that winning Cowsill sound - a family that sings together sound.

Drummer John Cowsill, 14, comes through with the lead vocal in On My Side and in Cheatin' On Me. Susan, who at 11 is the youngest Cowsill is featured in Heather Says, a folk tune about a fourth grader.

Susan and Barbara (Mother) Cowsill provide the high harmonies for the group. Paul Cowsill, 19, plays bass and is responsible for writing some of the album tunes with help from brother Bob, 21. Barry, 16, wrote two of the songs in which he sings lead, Down on the Farm, a pop hillbilly selection, and Dover Nines, a folk song.

Bob is the unofficial leader of the Cowsills and had a hand in writing 7 of the 12 album tunes. He is also lead guitarist and a big factor in the vocalizing.
