So this is Christmas, and what Steve Pineo has done is finally put his cult Christmas album out there. The local roots rocker and member of the late, great Billy Cowsill’s Co-Dependents recorded the collection of guitar and mandolin-infused Christmas Classics a few years back as a gift for family and close friends. The word spread and friends of those friends, and friends of those friends got after him for their own copies, so an official release was pretty much inevitable. The self-produced album of both instrumental and vocal tracks (a standout is the lazy rockabilly treatment of “What Christmas”) is currently available at Megatunes and anywhere Pineo plays live.
