The rain stopped, yet the sky remained ominous for the Co-Dependents’ set.

As lightening arced across the side of the stage the band, easily one of Calgary’s best, lifted spirits with a rootsy up-tempo set that blended blues, rock, folk and country styles flawlessly.

Band members Steve Pineo, Tim Leacock and Ross Watson all played at the top of their game mixed fantastic originals like Mississippi Saxophone with crowd-pleasing covers such as Secret Agent Man.

A highlight was the band’s delivery of Sweet Nothin’s, as Pineo fired the hottest licks of the evening from his six-string while The Co-Dependents’ leader Billy Cowsill sang with a raw, soulful passion fitting a musician of his considerable legend (which goes back to the 1960s).
