HYANNIS – The Happy Together tour at Cape Cod Melody Tent was like a big musical reunion of classic rockers and fans.
The lineup included The Buckinghams, the Classics IV, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, Chuck Negron 9formerly of Three Dog Night) and the Cowsills – all singing and playing to a packed house.
The Cowsills – Bob, Paul and Susan – kicked off the evening with the “Rain, the Park and Other Things,” perfect for an evening with intermittent showers punctuated by sudden downpours.
Inside the tent, things were pretty cozy, one of the Cowsill brothers said.
"Clammy," corrected Susan.
It was OK – she can criticize, being from Newport, Rhode Island, where the humidity also competes with sea breezes.
The Cowsills were like the popular kids from high school who have maintained their fun vibe after all these years.
And, most important, their lovely harmonies and strong vocal cords were on display for “Indian Lake” and, of course, “Hair.”
