MANITOWOC — The Bob Cowsill Band concert and the "I Wanna Be a Rock Star" competition will be held at the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St., on July 30.

The Cowsills, a family rock group from the 1960s and 1970s, is known for several hits — "The Rain, The Park and Other Things," "Indian Lake," "We Can Fly" and a classic recording of "Hair." They also were the inspiration for TV's "The Partridge Family." Today, the band exists in several forms, including lead singer Bob Cowsill's own band.

The "I Wanna Be a Rock Star" competition allows local singers and rock-star wannabes to compete for the lead in a featured number in the band's concert that night. During that afternoon, contestants will audition for the prize of singing "Hair" onstage with the Bob Cowsill Band. Cowsill will be one of the judges.

The first part of the evening's program will feature three finalists identified from the afternoon's auditions. All three will audition for the full audience at 7:30 p.m., with the audience choosing the winner. The second part of the program will be Cowsill's solo set. And the third part of the program will feature the Bob Cowsill Band and the winner of the competition.

Tickets are $20 for general seating and $50 for VIP seating. For more information, call the Capitol Civic Centre box office at (920) 683-2184 or visit www.cccshows.org.
