It's been years since she got her start as a member of The Cowsill Family, but at age 46, Susan Cowsill is branching out on her own.
The Cowsills had a string of 1960s bubblegum hits including The Rain in the Park and Other Things, Indian Lake and Hair, and inspired TV's The Partridge Family.
Cowsill told Pollstar magazine she had a regional tour planned to support her album, Just Believe It, but she expanded it nationwide after Hurricane Katrina flooded the New Orleans home she shared with her husband, Russ Broussard, and destroyed their musical instruments.
Russ brought my guitar with him when he evacuated, and that was it, Cowsill told Pollstar. And we just picked up stuff as we went along. People have been unbelievably -- like life-alteringly -- generous.
Cowsill said she is searching for her missing brother, Barry, as she crosses the country.
Barry Cowsill moved to New Orleans weeks before Katrina hit and has not been seen or heard from since leaving a message on Susan Cowsill's phone days after the storm.
