Barry Cowsill, of The Cowsills, a '60s band made up of members of the Cowsill family from Newport, has been missing more than a month. Cowsill, who has had a history of substance abuse, moved to New Orleans just before Hurricane Katrina hit. He hasn't been heard from or seen since, according to his siblings, who told Entertainment Tonight that they fear he was "washed away."
Twice in the last year, Cowsill was in the news. In February, . . . Last October, he appeared with The Cowsills and sang the national anthem at Boston's Fenway Park before Game 4 of the American League Championship.
The Cowsills are best known for their songs "Hair" and "The Rain, The Park and Other Things," and were the inspiration for the TV sitcom The Partridge Family.
According to The Cowsills' Web site, the last contact Barry Cowsill had with a member of his family was a few days after Hurricane Katrina hit. He phoned his sister Susan, who lives in New Orleans but who had evacuated before the storm. Cowsill left a message indicating that he was still in New Orleans and that he needed help.
