Barry Cowsill, who with the rest of his '60s pop star family sang their vintage hit ``Hair'' at Fenway Park during the last epic Red Sox-Yankees showdown, has been missing from New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina struck.

The Cowsills are desperately seeking information on the whereabouts of Barry, who left a dire phone message for his sister from the eye of the storm last month.

The troubled former star, who has had substance abuse problems, was caught in N'Awlins as the storm ravaged the city, and his siblings feared he'd been washed away.

"I spoke to Susan and Bob Cowsill and they were upbeat and full of confidence that their brother will be found," Red Sox spokesguy Dr. Charles Steinberg told us.

(Steinberg, you may recall, was the ringmaster of last season's postseason Fenway entertainment and has taken quite a lot of grief from his compatriots for resurrecting the '60s icons.)

But Bob Cowsill sounded more apprehensive when he spoke to "Entertainment Tonight."

"Too much time has gone by," said Barry's bro. "Others are being found and being reunited. Barry remains missing."

The former hippie band from Newport, R.I., reunited just about a year ago to belt out "Hair" in homage to Johnny, Manny, Pedro, Bronson and all the Follically Faithful – as well as their late mum, Barbara, who was a huge Red Sox fan.

Sadly, it seemed as though the Sox' Curse rubbed off on Barry. Although the Sox went on to lose the Cowsills game 19-8, they came roaring back and, well, you know the story.

And in a colossal case of bad timing, Barry moved to the Big Easy just a few weeks before the hurricane hit. He called his sister during the middle of the mayhem and left a message saying, "Help me out here. I don't know how to get out.. . ." He has not been heard from since.
