The Cowsills, a popular recording group, will be one of the feature attractions at the
130th Montgomery-Fulton County Fair which will open Sept. 1 in Fonda.
In addition to musical shows by the Cowsills, fairgoers will be treated to the Al Martin
stage shows.
Fair officials said the Northeastern Area Lumberjack Contest will be held with a number of new categories. The 1970 lumberjack contest drew one of the largest Labor Day crowds in the history of the fair.
A new 36-stall horse barn has been completed and it will replace the old horse stable.
The new structure provides much better viewing facilities of the animals, fair officials
said.
The new history building is now being readied and it will house many exhibits relating to
the Mohawk Valley. In a fenced area near the building there will be an exhibition of farm machinery and implements and of old engines.
Despite anticipated reductions in state aid, premiums will be awarded in the usual amounts.
