THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY: THE COMPLETE FIRST
SEASON (1970-71; $29.95) Groovy mom Shirley Jones and
her real-life stepson, teen heartthrob David Cassidy,
were the only actual singers, but TV's first family of
teenybopper pop (loosely inspired by '60s band
the Cowsills) made seriously catchy music on this
surprisingly well-written sitcom. Guests on the first 25
episodes include Richard Pryor, Mark Hamill and future
Charlie's Angels Jaclyn Smith and Farrah Fawcett.
EXTRAS: Two episodes of the awful Hanna-Barbera
animated series The Partridge Family, 2200 AD.; mini-documentary about the real musicians
who filled out the group's sound.
