Cowsills

The fun's about to begin. Barry, Paul and John ham it up while Bob "makes his point."

Whatever was said, it must have been some terrific joke! The guys sure are giggly!

Even at the piano, they can't resist a goof or two. That's Barry the "ape man."

Cowsills

THERE'S ALWAYS a game going on in The Cowsill family. Sometimes even rehearsals' seem just another excuse to get together and have fun. Have fun they do! And so will you—when you join in the wild games The Cowsills play.

A long-time favorite game of The Cowsills, especially Barry, is hide and seek. One reason it's so much fun is that their California house is so big and has so many good hiding places. Under the piano, in the corner of a closet, behind a cupboard or even in the swimming pool—they always seem to find new places to hide. Susie, of course, probably has the advantage because she's the smallest and can curl up in places the boys are too big for.

But Susie may find it hard to keep up with her brothers at basketball. John's the family champ—it's one of his favorite games. And tall Paul makes a lot of baskets, too, though he'd rather play football. Susie's a pretty mean dribbler, though.

In quieter moments, you might find one of The Cowsills matching words with brother Bob in a wild game of Scrabble. A game with Bob can be quite frustrating, they say, because he plays so often and so well, he's practically unbeatable. He really racks up those triple word scores. (Maybe that's part of the reason he writes such great lyrics!)

On rainy afternoons, many an exciting moment is spent over The Cowsills' Monopoly board. The whole family joins in, but Barry's the expert. He always seems to know when to buy and sell.

"I usually get Boardwalk and Park Place," he says.

"And North Carolina and Pacific and Pennsylvania. I put hotels on all of them. I make a million. Of course, I have a little trouble stretching my allowance ..."

Not that Barry actually wins the game. A Cowsill Monopoly game goes on for hours, and everyone usually quits before the end.

Barry doesn't always win when he plays badminton, either. That's because what he really likes best is clowning around, not keeping score. He'd rather just hit the birdie way out of bounds.

"Sometimes Mom finds this little rubber ball floating in the soup," kids John.

Late at night you might find The Cowsills gathered in the backyard or in the living room with the lights turned low, sitting around the Ouija Board. Susie thinks it's a lot of fun, but scary when it starts to move. Then again, sometimes it doesn't move because everyone laughs too much.

That's the important thing about The Cowsills . . . when you visit them, you'll usually find at least one of them laughing. With a whole family of practical jokers, it's only natural. Someone's always making a funny face that cracks everybody up. And Barry's specially good at doing impressions.

But there's more to it than that. The Cowsills really love having fun together, just laughing and having a good time. They don't need a special occasion to act like a happy, wonderful, loving family. That's exactly what they really are. And that's no fooling!
