The Cowsills In Magazines

What's New With The Cowsills

THE COWSILLS are probably the busiest family anywhere in the world! They’ve been jetting all over the country doing one-nighters and haven’t even had a chance to enjoy the home they bought in Santa Monica last spring. And they bought it so they could have somewhere to relax!

They hopped into Los Angeles long enough to record “Love American Style” for the new television series, making the Cowsills the first top 10 group to record a theme for a TV show.

Bob Cowsill, who took over Bill’s old duties, produced both sides of the record. Bob helped Bill produce “Hair” for the family, so you know he’s a talented guy!

John went to a summer camp in Big Bear for a week and loved it, but like all kids, got homesick for the rest of the family. When he got home, the new Cowsills’ fan club manager handed him his fan mail – or rather, poured it around him. John’s now got writer’s cramp from answering his letters!

Susan is walking on air. She’s been promised her biggest dream – a horse. Susan’s wanted a horse of her own since she can remember. Now she can barely talk about anything else. Susan, by the way, has decided she prefers pants this year (maybe the horse has something to do with that) and has been buying loads of plain and fancy pants outfits. Unfortunately – to her – she has to wear dresses to school so she’s picked up a few of those, too.

Barry’s also been hit by the clothes bug. He bought eight pairs of striped bell bottom trousers. Now he’s searching all over the country for new and different shirts to match them.

Dick, the Cowsill brother stationed in Vietnam, just returned to the States so the family has been celebrating ever since. You remember? Dick used to be the road manager because he claimed he couldn’t carry a tune!

Mom and Dad Cowsill are searching the country – and especially California – for a ranch. The reason? Susan’s horse, of course.

Somehow, Mom and Dad Cowsill came to the conclusion that if they promised Susan a horse, they’d better find someplace to keep it. Susan suggested the living room but Mom Cowsill put her foot down on that! Can’t imagine why ....

All the Cowsills from Bob through Susan are back at Hollywood Professional School. Bob, however, is dickering with a local junior college to let him attend classes AND leave whenever necessary to tour with his family. But college officials so far haven’t thought too much of his suggestion. They say they want him in class all the time … and that will never do for Bob.
