When TV audiences these days don't care for the night's prime movie, they seem to turn most frequently to shows like Dean Martin's, Carol Burnett's, or Red Skelton's. Not one to miss a trend, NBC program chief Mort Werner has ordered up a passel of musical-variety-comedy specials, all of them potential series if their on-air tryouts click. Among the prospective new weekly performers: Flip Wilson, singer Jack Jones, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and the Cowsills - "our answer to the King Family." Werner also is talking with Greg Garrison, Dean Martin's producer, about trying out an idea involving satellite-relayed act from far-flung locales. Host: Orson Welles.
