The Cowsills The Cowsills

Barry: If I could spend this summer any way I wished and go anywhere I wanted to - I know just how it would be! The first thing I'd do would be to invite you to come along with me! Then we'd go out and get ourselves the biggest and best sailboat there is and invite all of our best friends to come along with us for a trip around the world!

I can picture it right now! I'd take along a fishing rod, a camera and lots of film - and you can bet I'd bring my guitar too. I'd even write some songs, cos this trip would be super-inspiring. We'd plan to stop off in all of the European cities and tour the Scandinavian countries. (I've always wanted to do that), as well as visit any other places you want to see.

I hope you don't mind if we don't do the usual sight-seeing, cos I think it would be more interesting and more educational to walk around and see each city just the way the people who live there do. The best thing of all would be to visit the villages and mingle with the people. That way, we could really get to know them and their way of life. Wouldn't it be great to feel close to all of the people - all over the world?!

John: There's something I've wanted to do for a long time - and it's finally going to happen! This summer, I'm going to spend two whole weeks on a ranch!

Since I've never lived on a ranch before, I really don't know exactly what it will be like. However, just thinking about it gets me all excited, cos I can imagine how really great it must be to live the life of a cowboy. Besides, I love new experiences - and being on a ranch is bound to bring many new adventures my way!

If you were my secret summer love - I'd invite you to come along with me! And here's just what I think would be in store for us! There'll be plenty of horses, and I can't imagine anything more romantic than you and I riding off into the sunset together! In fact, the main reason I want to go to a ranch is cos I love horses!

I'm prepared to work too, but I'll bet we'd even enjoy fixing fences, caring for the grounds and feeding the animals - cos I bet doing the chores will be fun too. You know what? I really think this is the life for me! I may even buy my own ranch someday!

Sue: Even though we may have never met, I somehow feel very close to you. That's because of the many letters you've written and how very nice you've been to me and my family. Wouldn't it be just great if we could really and truly spend the summer together?! If my wish came true - I know exactly where I'd take you! To Newport, Rhode Island - that's where!!

Now don't get me wrong! I love living in California now, but Newport was a part of my life for so long that I'd really love to go back there for a visit. And I want you to come along, cos we Cowsills have told you so much about our old home town that I'd like to take you on a personal tour!

One of our first stops would be my old school, St. Augustine's, where I'd introduce you to all my former teachers. Then I'd take you to my fav Newport hangout, Hussey's Harbor House, where we'd have pizza and sodas and you'd get to meet all my friends as well as my brothers' buddies. We'd spend a lot of time at Second Beach - and before we left Rhode Island, we'd be sure to go to Middleton and stop off at "Alligator Rock" (that's a rock in the ocean which is shaped just like an alligator). Just thinking about visiting Newport makes me excited. I wish we could leave today - don't you?!

Paul: If you were my secret summer love, I know just how I'd want to share my summer with you. I hope you aren't too disappointed, but I wouldn't want to go away. I travel so much when I'm working that my idea of a perfect vacation would be to spend the entire summer in Santa Monica, California - my home town!

I'm not one to plan things, so I sure hope you're the kind of girl who is ready to pack up and take off on the spur of the moment. I also hope you like the beach, cos when I'm home - I spend lots of time taking in the sun, swimming in the ocean and just grooving at Santa Monica Beach - which, by the way, is only minutes away from my home!

On the days we decide to stay home - there are many things to do. We can swim in the pool, or plan an afternoon barbecue with a bunch of friends. Then again, if you feel extra energetic, we can jump on the trampoline or play a few games of tennis.

I love movies, so on rainy days (since there's no reason to be outdoors) we'd probably take in a flick or two. Of course, we'd find lots of other things to do also - like going to discotheques, concerts, parties or for long drives in my car (I hope to get a navy blue MGB convertible any day now). But, as I said before - I don't like to plan things in advance, cos I feel it's more fun to just take things as they come! What do you think?
