NEW YORK - It's been the
year of the Cowsills, or so
Leonard Stogel, who manages
the MGM group, will tell you
with the statistics to back himself
up.
Indeed the Cowsills have
established themselves as a
major entertainment force since
their first single release, "The
Rain, the Park and Other
Things," a year ago.
There have been five singles
and three albums since then - the current single is "Poor
Baby" and the current album
is "Captain Sad and his Ship
of Fools." A fall album, "The
Best of the Cowsills," is also
due.
And coming up: a staggering
list of events for the next year
and beyond.
The Cowsills are moving to
California this month to begin
work on a weekly TV series,
which they'll kick off with a
special Nov. 23. The series will
go on the air regularly after the
first of the year.
On Dairy Campaign
Also this fall, the American
Dairy Association will begin a
new campaign for which the
Cowsills have been signed in
the fall. The campaign, which
will take the form of TV, radio,
magazine and billboard ads, is
scheduled to run for four years
with the family making over a
million dollars. For the promo
the Cowsills have written and
will sing a jingle, "The Milk
Song."
There will also be a premium
album of Cowsills tunes sold
by the ADA.
During the fall the Cowsills
will also tour fairs - much of
the time with RCA's Eddy Arnold.
Between dates they'll be
back and forth to Hollywood
for two "Operation: Entertainment"
shows, two "Hollywood
Palaces," a Jonathan Winters
show and a special called "The
Fabulous Fashions."
When asked how the Cowsills
managed to keep up the pace,
Stogel says, "I don't know. They
drink a lot of milk, I guess."
