Berkman Named Bang - Shout Gen. Mgr. in Expansion
NEW YORK-Harold Berkman
has been appointed Bang -
Shout Records' General Manager,
in part of the labels'
overall expansion plans. Berkman
leaves MGM after five
years there.
Talking with Record World
last week, Berkman revealed,
"We expect Bang -Shout to have
a broader repertoire, and we
are currently negotiating with
several artists. Within 30 days
of my being there, there should
be some really juicy new stuff
announced."
In his 11 years in the music
industry, Berkman has worked
in many areas of the business,
including the distributor and
manufa^turer levels. Starting
as a field man at MGM, he
eventually operated in sales
and promotion and was associated
with the early success of
such as Herman's Hermits, the
Lovin' Spoonful, the Animals,
Every Mother's Son, Lainie
Kazan, Sam the Sham, Lou
Christie and others, and he also
handled the premiere promotion
tour for the Cowsills.
Bang -Shout Records was established
by the late Bert
Berns, whose widow, Eileen,
has been managing the diskery
since her husband's sudden
death last January.
