E. H. Morris Action
NEW YORK-Scheduled releases
within the next month of
several new records by prominent
artists mark a reflection
of the stepped -up contemporary
activity at the Edwin H.
Morris Music Company.
Currently represented in the
charts by the Scott English
recording, "Brandy" on the
Janus label, forthcoming E. H.
Morris songs include: "Caress
Me Pretty Baby" by David
Clayton -Thomas; "Follow Me"
by The Glass Bottle; "Working
Class People" recorded by The
Cowsills; "The Mountain" by
Jack Jones; a new version of
"Riders in the Sky" by The
Nashville Brass and two tunes
each from Tennessee Ernie
Ford, the Mills Brothers and
the Bells. Titles are "Mr. Words
and Music," "West Texas Highway,"
"Happy Songs of Love,"
"The Drum," "Gifts" and
"Song."
Also scheduled is "This Way
Mary" by Johnny Mathis from
John Barry's score for "Mary,
Queen of Scots" and Sammy
Davis' "Take My Hand" from
"The Selling of the President."
Additional activity, according
to Agnes Kelliher and Ray
Wetzler who direct the contemporary
department, will surface
soon in light of several recently
completed recording pacts.
Esther Jack has been signed
to a production deal with Sonny
& Cher's indie firm and will be
produced for release on Kapp
Records by Sonny Bono and
Dennis Pregnolato. They also
reported the signing of concert
attraction Jerome to a United
Artists contract and have been
working with writer/performer
David Byron.
Alan O'Day, who earned recognition
as a writer for Bobby
Sherman, Three Dog Night and
other top artists, will be produced
by Dallas Smith for release
on the Viva label, according
to Sidney Goldstein of the
Los Angeles E. H. Morris office.
