At cocktail party hosted by MGM Records for the Cowsills following group's smash opening at the Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas, recently, are label Prexy Mike Curb and date Debbie Clinger congratulating the Cowsills' mother, Barbara.



MGM Releases 21 LPs

Mike Curb, VP of MGM, Inc., and President of MGM Records, in his move to revitalize the MGM label, will put 21 new powerhouse album releases on the market during March. Among the packages will be two album releases on the new Co - Burt label, which MGM Records will handle, 13 on the MGM label, four on the Verve label and two on the Verve Forecast label.

Variety Theater Sets Disk Division

MINNEAPOLIS - Variety Theater International, Minneapolis -based contemporary talent and production agency, announced formation of a full service disk division in an overall expansion of the firm's operation. Veteran agency exec Matt Crawford has been set to head up this new Variety Theater division with initial concentration on setting major record deals for their rapidly growing talent roster.

Variety Theater started operation in 1957 and now services, produces and sets acts for over 500 colleges throughout the country. In addition to its own talent roster of such name acts as Denny Brooks, Bandanna, Fred Smoot, Maffitt and Davies and Buzz Clifford, among others, Variety Theater has recently promoted college concerts with Friends of Distinction, Brooklyn Bridge, Classics IV, Cowsills, Fifth Dimension, Johnny Cash, Lou Rawls and Neil Diamond.
