I met Del by chance on Facebook . . . I saw the name Cowsill requested him as a friend and then popped the question . . . Are you a member of the iconic Cowsill family? I was so happy to find out that he was the son of the late Bill Cowsill. I was enamored beyond words. When I found out that he was a very talented musician himself. I asked him for an interview. Enjoy!!

Punk Globe: Thanks so much for the interview can you give the readers some background on yourself?

Del: Born in Vancouver 40 years ago. I have loved music since as far back as I can remember, and the Beatles are/is my favorite band! The rest will be in my memoir if anyone's willing publish it . .

Punk Globe: It was really interesting how when we made contact on Facebook. I saw the name Cowsill and immediately asked you if you were related to the famous 60s band The Cowsills. Does that happen alot?

Del: Yes

Punk Globe: I blame it all on Pop History. Tell us how you ended up in Toronto, Canada?

Del: I drove there in a Van with The Dustin Bentall Band , and ended up staying after the Tour. I dig Toronto, It's a very nice city!

Punk Globe: It would seem that music is in your blood. Did your Dad Bill Cowsill mentor you with all the instruments that he had mastered as a youth?

Del: My Dad got me up on stage when I was a young boy and taught me the basics. I knew then what I wanted to do all the time; play in a band.

Punk Globe: When did you decide that bass was your instrument of choice?

Del: When I was 8.

Punk Globe: You were born in Vancouver. Were you involved alot with the music scene there?

Del: Yes

Punk Globe: You told me that you played with Jimmy Cummins and I Braineater. Tell the readers how that came about?

Del: I did for a few years in the early 2000s. I used to hang out at the Railway Club a lot, so we all ended up finding each other and playing together.

Punk Globe: Did you play with any other of the wonderful Vancouver bands?

Del: Sure. I've been in side projects and on gigs over the years with members of ODDS, Grapes of Wrath, The Tragically Hip, Doug and the Slugs, DOA, The Real MacKenzie's, Eugene Ripper, The Flaming Groovies, The Squirrles, The Modernettes, while I was an actual member of The Top Drawers, Pete Werner Band, The Dustin Bentall Outfit, The Capitals, The Stellar Band Of Neighbors, Fancey, and a bunch of cover bands too.

Punk Globe: Any Vancouver venues that you enjoyed?

Del: The Railway Club, The Cobalt, Picadilly Pub, The Marine Club, The Commodore, Fairview Pub, The Town Pump, Lana Lou's, The Heritage Pub in New Westminster. And many more that have opened and closed over time.

Punk Globe: In what year did you move on to Toronto?

Del: 2009

Punk Globe: You play with my pals Cleave, John and Marcel in Toronto. Is there a band name?

Del: Ya, we used to back up songwriter Lucas Stagg sometimes. I've Played with Cleave in a few different arrangements. The David Celia project was another group we were in.

Punk Globe: Do you enjoy the music scene in Toronto?

Del: Yeah, it's great. Lots of good people in Toronto! Lots of old school soul rock and heavier psychedelic Twangy stuff.

Punk Globe: Any venues that you enjoy playing at?

Del: The Cameron House, The Horseshoe Tavern, The Dakota Tavern, The Communist's Daughter, Swan Dive, The Rivoli, The Skyline . . . the list could go on, But those are my Faves of the top of my head.

Punk Globe: Seeing that your American father Bill Cowsill was in the iconic band The Cowsills, did you ever live in the States?

Del: Not yet, but I plan on trying it out at some point in my life.

Punk Globe: You mentioned that you are in fact in touch with your Uncles and Aunt do you visit them often?

Del: More and more as life goes on, yes!

Punk Globe: Have you seen them perform on The Happy Together tour with Mark Lindsay?

Del: No

Punk Globe: What is your favorite Cowsills song?

Del: We Can Fly

Punk Globe: Now back to you. Tell us about your best show you have played?

Del: 2010 at Massey Hall in Toronto with The Dustin Bentall Outfit, opening for one of my favorite bands, Blue Rodeo! 2 nights!

Punk Globe: Did you ever play with Buck Cherry?

Del: The singer of the Modernettes, yes. He was playing guitar with I Braineater during a time when I was on drums. We did a few gigs together in Vancouver.

Punk Globe: I understand that you are planning a trip to Los Angeles this summer .

Del: It's true. Spring/Summer!

Punk Globe: Having lived in Vancouver . . Do you know my grrl Biff Naked?

Del: I know OF her, and I met her once or twice through a common friend Rebecca Russell of the band Lick The Pole!
