There is an old saying that goes: "To really know someone, you must live with them." Brothers and sisters share many special secrets as they grow up together. They know things about each other that have never been confided to anyone else. Some of the memories are happy, and perhaps there are a few painful ones, too. It's amazing how many famous brothers and sisters there are, and in this monthly feature they will be sharing some of their special times together with you!

Last month in FaVE, our sister Susan told you all about us! At first when we saw the story we groaned, "Oh no! She'll slaughter us," but as we began reading we found ourselves laughing and even agreeing with what she wrote. It seems Susan really does know a lot about us!

TWO SUSANS

But being her brothers we think we know just as much about her, if not more, so now it's our turn! Though you may not know.it there are actually two Susans! The one we see most frequently wears shirts and levis or bell-bottom pants—you guessed it—she's quite a tomboy! This Susan is handy to have around if we're playing a game of baseball or basketball and need another player. She can really throw the baseball far and is fast becoming an expert when her turn comes to bat! She can slug the ball out as far as second base, which we have to admire, cause that's pretty good for a ten-year-old girl!

Another thing Susan's good at is climbing trees. In fact, she can scoot right up there with the best of us. There's only one problem—getting down! You see Susan is afraid of heights and she never climbs up beyond the fourth or fifth branch unless one of the guys is up there to help her along—but even then she gets scared!

UP A TREE

One day it was around dinner time and we couldn't find Sue anywhere. We all kept calling her and looking and finally we saw her up in the front yard tree with a small kitten! Susan loves animals and when she saw the kitten stuck way up there she climbed up to save him, and then was scared to come down herself!

Another time when the family went on a trip to the Grand Canyon we had a difficult time in getting Susan to enjoy herself! She was scared silly to look over the edge of the high cliffs, even with a guard rail there for protection. But no one teases her about it. After all, we all have things we're scared of sometimes and all us other Cowsills try to help her gain confidence. Certainly teasing doesn't accomplish anything!

The tomboy Susan also likes to pick fights with us—

WEARING OLD SHIRTS and levis is a definite must for Susan who can be quite a tomboy at times. She can climb trees and play baseball and basketball almost as well as her brothers! At least for a ten year old girl!

SOMETIMES IT'S LONESOME being the only girl in the family and sometimes Susan can't help being sad.

mostly in fun — though we do have our share of family squabbles! Lucky for us we are stronger than she is; otherwise we might both sport black eyes every now and then!

THE OTHER SIDE

Then there's the other Susan — a delicate charming young lady, whose got the guys in a tizzy. Being her brothers, we don't look at Susan the way other guys do, but we do notice things! This Susan likes to wear soft and feminine

dresses or pullover tops and mini skirts—even in blue or bright pink!

She's very polite and rather shy and her eyes take on a twinkling smile for all the guys. This is the Susan our Mom likes to see, but sometimes, that's just the time we need another ball player, and then are we ever stuck!

It's not that Susan is boy crazy—just that girls will be girls, at least when it comes to boyfriends! Of course Susan's too young to date and she certainly isn't ready for romance in her life, but still, that's just the way it is with boys and girls!

FIRST KISS

Like most girls Susan has had her share of crushes on groovy guys. Her first big one was of course on David Jones and she will always remember the day she met him and he gave her a kiss—her first one ever! Before David there was a period when she was starstruck on Boyce and Hart and recently she's had a daughterly crush on Dean Martin!

Of course, she's got dozens of pictures of Bobby Sherman hanging in her room alongside of Len Whiting. But what makes us Cowsill boys feel really groovy is the little things she says to us like "you guys are really great," or even "I love you!"

LOVE AND ADMIRATION are just two of the many feelings John and Barry Cowsill have for their younger sis!

SOMETIMES SAD

Like anyone else, our sis has her various moods. Sometimes for no reason she gets sulky or depressed and then she usually sits in her room playing records. Our Mom says Susan is just like any other girl and has her ups and downs. Besides, sometimes it can be lonesome being the only girl and surrounded by a bunch of guys!

Once in a while it is rather difficult to interpret Susan's moods, but again our Mom steps in and tells us there are just some things boys will never understand about girls! I guess that's right—Mom ought to know!

Most of the time we all get along groovy together. You've got to admire Susan's talent and she always treats us fairly! She said last month that she wouldn't trade us for anything — and we feel exactly the same way about her!
