Beyond those influeenes, REDD KROSS also admit to some pretty strange inspirations. Although Jeff denies he was ever influeced by K.C. and the Sunshine Band, they will admit to being influenced by the ultra-extravagance of Kiss, and the streetwise staance of the Runaways and the pop simplicity of the Cowsills. That's righht, the Cowsills, who were the acceptable face of hippiedom back in the '60s, and whose biggest hit was "Hair" (from the Broadway musical). According to Jeff, their song "Mackenzie" was actually based on the Cowsills' hit "The Rain, The Park, and Other Things" and really has nothing to do with Mackenzie Phillips. "Of course we love Mackenzie, but it's really about God. We just use the name Mackenzie to throw people off."
