Our Secret Hiding Places - John

Back in Newport, Rhode Island, I used to have my own special "hide-out" and no one knew about it - not even my family and close friends. It was sort of a promise I made to myself that my special hide-out would always be a secret - and to this day I've never told anyone about it! I can't reveal its whereabouts cos - you never know - I might want to use it again! Of course, Newport, Rhode Island is pretty far from Santa Monica, California, and that makes it difficult for me to hide out in my super secret place - even though there are times when I get the urge to. That's why I've been searching for a new hide-out closer to my home.

I feel that it's important for everyone to have his or her own secret place - a place where you can go to be alone and think things out - a place you don't share with anyone else (except the people in your dreams). It's strange, because I'm not really a loner and many times when I am left all my myself I get very lonely. But other times, even though there are people I love very much, I feel the need to go off by myself. And those are the times when a secret hiding place becomes very special to me. Do you understand what I mean? Do you have a secret hide-out of your own? If you do, write and tell me about it. I'll understand if you don't want to tell me where it is. That's your secret!
