Chuck Negron Three Dog Night vocalist Chuck Negron passed away February 2 at age 83.

. . .

"Easy to Be Hard" became Three Dog Night's next single that year and, like its predecessor, reached the Top 10. It was from the Broadway musical Hair and a unique chart phenomenon occurred that year where four singles of songs from Hair reached No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 in that chronological order: "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" by The 5th Dimension, "Hair" by The Cowsills, "Good Morning Starshine" by Oliver and "Easy to Be Hard" by Three Dog Night. Bob Cowsill of The Cowsills, who toured with Negron on the Happy Together Tour, told Goldmine, "To us and many others Chuck was the face of Three Dog Night. Danny and Cory were good looking guys, but Chuck had that signature mustache and long brown hair. He was it! We got to know Chuck later in life during many summers touring together, listening to his stories, advice, and wisdom. We all fell in love with each other. He could out-sing all of us on any night of every summer we spent together no matter what issues he was battling during the day. He ran his own show, and we miss him now very much. All passings are sad, some more than others. For the Cowsills, Chuck's passing is sadder than others."
