WHERE is Barry Cowsill?

The former teen idol of the '60s family rock group, The Cowsills, has been missing from his New Orleans home since the day after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city in late August.

And now his desperate family is asking GLOBE readers for help in finding him,

"I think he's out there somewhere - we just have no idea where," Barry's ex-wife Deborah tells GLOBE. "If anyone knows where he is, please call us. If he is in a mental hospital or rehab center, please get the word out."

The Cowsills had a string of hits including The Rain, The Park and Other Things, Indian Lake and Hair, and also inspired the hit television show, The Partridge Family.

Barry, who'd been suffering from alcohol abuse and depression, was due to check himself into rehab in Los Angeles the day after the storm. But instead he was left stranded alone and scared in the tumultuous streets of the Crescent City. He left a voicemail for his younger sister Susan, pleading for help, but no one has heard from him since.

Family members thought they caught a glimpse of Barry on a CNN news clip in front of the now infamous New Orleans Convention Center, and they're holding out hope the 51-year-old singer is alive - if not well.

Meanwhile, Deborah says the last two months have been hard on the whole family and especially devastating for her and Barry's two kids, Keira, 17, and Collin, 15.

"Barry, we miss you," Deborah says. "We're miserable without you. Please call us and let us know you're all right."
