Believe it or not, there are nine of them! I'm talking about Cowsills. What, you may ask, is a Cowsill? Well, a Cowsill might be an 11 year-old drummer named John, an eight year-old, cute little girl singer called Susan, or a 'mini-mom' named Barbara. The Cowsills are a family who live in a 22-room "Munster" type mansion in Newport, R.I. They play and sing on MGM records, and they do it pretty good.
The Cowsill corporation reads as follows: Bill, 19; Bob, 18; Barry, 13; and John, 11, form the nucleus of the group. Their mother and little sister join in the singing, and brothers, Dick and Paul, are road managers. Dad coordinates everybody!

I met them when they played their first big New York area date at the Malibu Beach Club, Long Island, back in August. When they'd finished playing in front of hundreds of appreciative teens, we all went out for hamburgers and

hot dogs. I don't know about the rest of the family, but you can take it from me, Bob has a terrific appetite!
For full two-page pinup identifying them all, see p. 30.
