TAKE A LOOK at the funny little drawings on this
page. They are called "logos." A "logo" is something like a
trademark; that is, it immediately identifies a product, or a
person, or a group of people. For example, the "logo" you see here
of the Monkees' guitar makes you think of the Monkees right away,
and you get a pleasing mental picture of Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike
as you like them best.
Well, the Cowsill Family is looking
for a "logo" - an immediately recognizable little drawing - that
will make everyone who sees it think of the Cowsills right away. And
they are confident that one of 16 Magazine's many talented and
imaginative readers is bound to come up with a "logo" drawing for
the Cowsills that will become internationally famous - a trademark
that will be associated with the Cowsills wherever the drawing is
seen.
To get all of you 16-ers into your thinking caps, the
Cowsills are eager and ready to give away absolutely free to the
contestant who submits the best "logo" drawing for the Cowsill
Family every one of those WOW-EE gifts: a color TV set; a hi-fi
stereo record player; a king-size collection of all the latest hit
LP and single records; a big, personally autographed picture of the
Cowsill Family; and a $500 U.S. Savings Bond!
You don't have
to be artistic to win all these fab prizes for your very own. You
don't even have to submit a good drawing. The idea is the thing that
counts most. Make it as attractive and as appealing as you can, and
submit a sketch of it as best you can. Think of the Cowsill Family
as a group; think of why you like them so much - and why everyone
else would like them too, once they got to know them. And then put
your thoughts into a drawing which the Cowsill Family can use as a
"logo," a trademark. Your drawing does not have to include pictures
of the Cowsill Family or its members, or their first names. It
should symbolize the Cowsill Family as a whole.
Space has
been provided on this page for you to draw a "logo" trademark for
the Cowsill Family, in pen or pencil - but if you prefer, you may
make your sketch on plain white paper or cardboard. You may submit
as many sketches as you like.
All drawings entered in the
contest will be judges by Gloria Stavers, Editor-in-Chief of 16
Magazine, and the Cowsill Family. They will award the prizes
described above to the contestant who submits, in their judgment,
the best "logo" drawing as a trademark for the Cowsill Family.
When you have finished your drawing - or drawings - just
fill in the coupon on this page, cut it out and mail it together
with your drawing or drawings to the address on the coupon
Remember, you don't have to be artistic to win! Just make
your "logo" sketch attractive and appealing and you have just as
good a chance to make off with the Cowsills' grab bag of goodies as
