Although the Cowsills have topped the field with their best selling
vocal version, Artie Kornfeld’s brassy orchestral reading is strong
enough to make deejays wonder if “The Rain, The Park And Other
Things” wasn’t meant to be an instrumental smash too. Excellent drive
on the sparkling new view could set this rendering for a big showing.

GAC Opens Major Drive For Recording Talent
NEW YORK—GAC, a leading booking
agency, has begun a strongly increased
increased drive in the record end of the
industry with major expansion moves
in its record department. Heading the
enlarged division is Mike Slobin, a 5-
year veteran of the agency field, who
joined GAC last week.

Slobin came to GAC to head the
record department after 2 1/2 years in
the concert division of Ashley Famous,
where he was intrumental in obtaining
representatives by the agency for Herschel Bernardi, the Critters, Mark
London and the Cowsills. He has also worked for the William Morris Agency.

Rudi Slezak Concludes U. S. Deal
LONDON—On a recent visit to New
York and Los Angeles, Rudi Slezak
of Abigail and Dratleaf publishing
companies acquired for the U.K. and
Germany the cataloges of Era Records,
Pattern and Bamboo. On the
same trip Selzak, who heads up his
own Slezak Musikverlag in Hamburg,
acquired the Big Seven Music catalog
of America, containing such firms as
Planetary and Francon, for all German
speaking territories. Also included
in the deal is Akbestal Music
controlling all Cowsills numbers, including
the current chart topper “The
Rain, The Park, And Other Things.”

Australia
Albert’s have acquired the
Australian rights to “The Rain, The Park And Other Things,” the giant ,
American hif for the Cowsills; this has now been issued here through Philips.
