Berkman Bang-Shout GM
NEW YORK—Harold Berkman has
joined the Bang-Shout disk operation
as general manager, as part of a
general expansion of the company’s
operations. He has just left a 5-year
association with MGM Records, most
recently operating in sales and promotion
at the label’s headquarters in
New York.
An 11-year disk industry figure,
Berkman has worked in many phases
of the industry, including the distrib
and manufacturer levels. At MGM,
where he started as a fieldman, he
was associated with the initial success
of such acts as Hermin’s Hermits, the
Animals, the Lovin’ Spoonful, Every
Mother’s Son, Lainie Kazan, Lou
Christie, Sam the Sham, among others.
He also directed the debut promo
tour of the Cowsills.
Bang-Shout was established several
years ago by the late Bert Berns.
Berns died suddenly last January.
