Wisner Exiting Col For Indie Co. "s
NEW YORK - Jimmy Wisner has resigned
his post as director of pop recording
in the east for Columbia Records,
effective July 15.
Wisner will go on to free-lance production,
arranging and conducting and
is planning his own new record firm
and publishing companies. The new
Wisner firm will be at 888 Eighth Avenue
in New York City (212-765-4680)
Before leaving the Columbia post,
Wisner will finish several current projects.
These include new albums by
Kim Martell, "Toots" Thielman, Robert Goulet, and Tony Bennett.
Wisner joined the Columbia Label in
April, 1968 as a staff producer, and
was named Eastern A&R Chief last
fall. Prior to this he arranged and
conducted several million -selling records
including "The Rain the Park
and Other Things" by the Cowsills, "I
Think We're Alone Now" with Tommy
James and the Shondells and "One,
Two, Three" by Len Barry.
As a producer he worked with Jim
and Jean, Gloria Lynne, and Len
Barry among others.
