Susan

You won't believe
the things they say ...

SO WE SAT the Cowsills down in various corners of their large Manhattan apartment and said to each of them: "C'mon, we want you to be sneaky! Spill the beans about each other!"

Well, you can't imagine the shrieks of laughter that followed! This was their big chance to tell the world a few secrets that hadn't been told before! And you won't believe some of the things they said ...

BILL started the ball rolling by talking about his Mom, Barbara.

"She's really the greatest mother around," he said seriously. She's got a great sense of humor,

though she sometimes gets angry when the rest of us pick on her! I think she's got great knees; and she makes the greatest blueberry pie around. She annoys me sometimes ... like she can be very stubborn when she wants to be and she mopes around the house whenever she's mad with us guys. But that isn't much often.

"As for BOB, he's too fussy! When he's miserable we all know it, and when he's mad we all know it. Mind you, he can be very funny and kindhearted. For instance, he often lends me money when my allowance has run out!

"Barry is one of the biggest brats

you could ever meet! I mean he doesn't know when to cool it. When I don't feel like messing around he'll often get on my nerves by making funny faces. I try not to laugh, but I usually do! He really has a great sense of humor and is one of the most talented people I've ever met. He's also very inventive - like the time he made a time machine out of a vacuum cleaner!

"JOHN can be a pain in the _____ at times. He has no idea how to concentrate, and because of this he often makes stupid mistakes. And he'll never admit when he's wrong! Apart from that he's a great drummer and I like his freckles!

"Susan is beautiful and very intelligent. She's a pleasure to work with and has a lot of class for an eight year old. She has one annoying habit - she talks too much!"

Now, it's BOB's turn to spill the beans about his family ...

"The thing that annoys me about MOM is that sometimes she's hard to work with. And she always yells at us for forgetting to pack things when we travel. I think she's the best looking Mom in the world, and I love her to be around my friends because they think she's really cool. She dresses cool, too. But she's not very cool when she burns our chocolate pudding!

"BILL is a really great brother - especially when he lends me money and I don't pay him back! He can be very funny - especially when he wears a swim suit! His main problem is that he's a perfectionist and sometimes it's a hang up. He is very serious about the group and he has quite a temper when he's not happy about the way we practice.

"BARRY acts too smart sometimes, and he says what's on his mind whether he hurts people or

not. He's also very bad at getting 'round to doing things that he says he'll do. He's a very good bass player and has a great imagination and sense of humor. He's also got a very large pot belly!

I like JOHN best when he's asleep - and sometimes when he's drumming. It's also very funny to watch him and SUSAN fight! He has a habit of getting on my nerves, especially when he doesn't pay attention.

"SUSAN is really cute, and she's going to be a good looking girl when she grows up. She's got a very catching laugh, but she's even funnier when she pretends to cry. You should see her trying to get out of a spanking

from Dad when she's in trouble!"

Says BARRY: "The trouble with MOM is that she worries too much. She's very funny to look at on stage because her knees shake and her lower lip quivers! But she's real neat looking and down to earth. She respects us in every way and she acts like a good mother should.

"Bill can be the greatest guy in the world, but he can also be the creepiest. He yells a lot at rehearsals, but when he's up to it he has a great sense of humor. He's also a very sloppy eater and he's so think it's hilarious!

"BOB makes the funnies jokes I've ever heard. But he's at his funniest when he cuts himself shaving!! He's a neat brother.

held high. But Barry and Bob look
like they don't ant to fight!

Everyone's really engrossed!

"I love to beat JOHN up when I'm mad, but then he laughs in that dumb squeaky laugh of his and I just crack up. He annoys me when he steals my lines and copies my harmonies. In fact, he annoys me a lot!

"SUSAN is real neat looking, and she's not as creepy as I thought she'd be after all the publicity we've had. She is very funny and terribly giggly. She's my favorite sister. (I've only got one!)

Now it's JOHN'S turn to blast off ...

"I like MOM because she always cooks for us before we go to school, and she lets me go to the stores with her. I think she's funny to watch on stage and she's funny around the house too. She's the greatest!

"BILL annoys me when he plays a wrong chord on his guitar, because instead of admitting he's wrong he hits me instead! He also yells and get tensed up a lot and I think he takes things too seriously. He's very honest.

"BOB is very funny and tells lots of good jokes and I have a lot of laughs with him. But he can be grumpy at times.

"I think that BARRY worries too much and sometimes he get upset too easily. He's got a great sense of rhythm and you should see him dance!

"Susan is a typical eight-year-old and she cries easy. She keeps following me around and that annoys me. But she's the best sister in the world and I wouldn't change her."

Cowsills

"Watch out that you don't set someone's
cap on fire, Susan," warns Mom Cowsill

SUSAN just couldn't wait to snitch on her brothers and her MOM!

"I get cross with MOM when she won't let me stay up late and see television. And sometimes she hits me for teasing JOHN and I start crying. But sometimes she hits them and then I laugh! Mom is very tender and kind, she's always smiling and she cooks very well. I love her very much.

"The things I like most about BILL are his hairy legs! Also he treats me very nice and once he took me to dinner and a movie. He's very tall and he's got big feet. He makes the house cold because he likes to sleep with the windows open. Bill annoys me when he yells at me at practice, and he bites his nails when he gets mad.

Cowsills

Susan Cowsill gets in the bed-time mood.
She's thinking mischief!

And, above, she's really got Bob's attention.

"I think BOB has got a very funny nose, and he makes me laugh when he tries to dance. I like his smile and his organ playing and his toes. He is very funny and a good brother.

"BARRY make me mad a lot when he won't let me play with him, and he teases me a lot. But he sings nice and he plays bass very well. I shouldn't say this, but he's got a fat tummy and it sticks out! I think he looks very funny in short shorts - but he also looks very funny in long shorts!

"John makes me mad too, because sometimes he hits me and gets me into trouble. Also he doesn't make his bed in the mornings. I like his drumming, though, and he is my best brother of the year. He is a good friend to me and plays with me when I am sick, but he thinks his jokes are funny and I don't think they are."

Last, but certainly not least, comes BARBARA with her views of her offspring ...

"BILL is a very compassionate person and he has a wonderful sense of humor. But he's just got bad habits ... like playing the record player too loud, leaving his bedroom like a disaster area and never picking up his clothes!

"BOB is a very good boy and he's got a wonderful sense of humor. He's great at doing impersonations and he's very funny when he burst through the door and yells: 'Hi family, I'm here!' I think he's too meticulous, and when he's tired he looks like grump stew!

"BARRY is very lovable, sensitive and honest. He does a fantastic impersonation of Charlie Chaplin, and his laugh is very infectious. But sometimes Barry is too sensitive, and sometimes he's TOO honest. Like some mornings he'll look at me and say: 'Hey, mom! Look at the wrinkles under your eyes!' And I really need compliments like these at seven in the morning!

"JOHN loves to argue with Susan and Barry, but he tries to bluff his way out of situations rather than fight. He adores Susan really and is very kind to her. But he'll never admit it!

"SUSAN is my baby and only daughter. She's lovable and very happy, and she likes to cuddle up to me when she's tired. Everything she does is very funny and when she gets away with playing a trick on her brothers, she can't contain herself! There's only one thing about Susan that annoys me - she talks constantly!"

So there you have it. The Cowsills have spilled the beans on each other! One last thing, though. don't take all of this TOO seriously! They all adore each other ... REALLY !
