From that moment, she began to feel inexplicably warm feeling towards Brandon. The innocence of his gesture, and its lack of artifice, moved her. Instinctively,she started whistling the tune of the Cowsills song that Jack Hamilton sang, off-key and with made-up lyrics, to her years ago:
