"Absolutely Sweet Marie" is like Hollywood TV music, underlined by Al Kooper's Europoppy organ. A lot of pop rock sounded like this. It's a scene in a '60s swinging London movie: There's a girl in a miniskirt walking down the street window-shopping: "That girl with psychedelic eyes." The "six white horses" lyrics combined incongruously with a pah pah pah pah pah pah pah. If you take away the acerbic bluesy lyrics it could be a Cowsills song. It's just the kind of melodic pattern that was in the air, the sound of the day, but with Dylan's words it takes on an unsettling, even ominous aspect.
