Note: Susan Cowsill, Vicki Peterson Cowsill and John Cowsill are in this book many, many times. I just chose a couple for here.

Little did she (Vicki) know that Carlo's mind was already made up. Sometime after that trip, in the lobby at Uncle Studios, he proclaimed - rather nonchalantly - that Vicki and Susan were in the band.

"I guess they were talking either about a session or a gig coming up, and Carlo went, 'Oh, I don't know. I mean, the girls are in the band, so that's that' I'll never forget it," Susan said.

Susan has one of the great underrated voices of her generation. She's a person bursting with natural creative ability. With her history, you'd assume that music was it for her, from day one. But as she explains, it's never been that simeple.

"The secret about me, ultimately, is that my main desire in life has never been to be an artist. Of any kind," she said. "My main desire in life has been to be mom, and a wife, and a family member, and a community contributor, and a do-gooder, and a baker. And I don't know what that meaans, because I clearly have this thing. And I would also feel like I was being really rude to ignore it."

"He (John) called me (Vicki) when I got home and said, 'I don't know who else you're seeing or what else you're doing. I don't know how many chin ups I have to do or pushups I have to do to impress you, but I'm going to be your boyfriend," she laughed. "Well that as either the sweetest, most romantic, or the creepiest thing I've ever heard. He's either going to be my stalker or my husband."
