Two large concerts in Alabama also brought back memories for Tufano. "There were two major radio stations - one in Montgomery and one in Birmingham - that sponsored concerts. We'd play one concert, and then get on a bus and drive across the state to the other one," he said. "We'd be on the bill with Paul Revere and the Raiders, Tommy James and the Shondells, the Cowsills, solo singers like Lou Christie. We would all play in order of where we were on the charts in that city. For example, if your band had a No. 2 record, you went on second to last. We would move four days later to someplace else, and three of the bands would be with us, and another two extra bands would come in . . .
