Carrollton Station is kind of like Cheers for laid-back Uptown roots-rockers - like the '60s folk-rock queen Susan Cowsill, who does a monthly set here called "Covered In Vinyl," where she and her band perform a favorite album track by track. It's near the universities, but the crowd skews a little more grown-up, and they have a full menu of greasy, delicious bar food. The bar's owners started a small foundation after Katrina to distribute grants to local musicians in need.
