New Orleans is also a place to catch ageing musicians who are coping with life out of the limelight. Barry Cowsill, a member of the teeny- bop '70s band the Cowsills, still pops up at Kerry Irish Pub now and again, while Dave Sharp, formerly of the 1980s Welsh band the Alarm, performs with his new band, the Hard Travellers, in clubs around town. Also look out for solo performances by Alex Chilton, former lead singer of the '60s group the Boxtops, and cult figure Tav Falco of the Panther Burns (sometimes called the Jerry Lee Lewis of roots rock).
